Transport minister: extra lane on A67 in 7 years

New lanes will be added to both sides of the A67 between Eindhoven and Asten over the coming 7 years, the ED reports.

Speaking in a letter to the Tweede Kamer (lower house of parliament) on Thursday, transport minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen also revealed plans to extend the entrance and exit roads of the motorway between Eindhoven and Venlo. The state will allocate €150million, while the county itself will contribute €55million.

Schultz van Haegen also promised to look into solutions for traffic problems faced by motorists on Eindhoven’s ring road between Best and Eindhoven, and on the A2 between Eindhoven and Weert.

The minister wrote the letter following talks with provincial director Christophe van der Maat. The VVD (conservative-liberal party) member was in The Hague on Thursday with his party to speak about alternatives to previously-scrapped plans for a road connecting Son en Breugel and Aarle-Rixtel, alongside the Wilhelminakanaal. This left €271million cash for accessibility improvements in southeast Brabant.
