Women celebrated World Women’s Day in Eindhoven

On Saturday the Eindhoven celebration of International Women’s Day took place in the Blue Collar Hotel at Strijp S. The day was organized by the CLO. (The Latin American Centre for Orientation). The day was full of interesting and fun workshops, performances and product stalls.

The spacious and light hall at the top floor of the ‘Klokgebouw’ was filled with (mostly) women from all over the world. A true gathering of international womanhood in Eindhoven. Everybody could enjoy the Indian, Indonesian, Antilles and Latin American dances, both by watching and actively participating. Singer Mildred Wiersma and a tango guitar player took care of more musical entertainment. Eye therapy and the Art of Living workshops attended to the need of more depth in the wonderful program.

The hall was fringed with 18 stalls with for example African clothes for sale for the ‘Women for Development Foundation’, beauty products, jewellery, paintings from Venezuelan artist Yris Arieta and Persian artist Goli Hendriks, Bach Flower therapy consultant, language courses, shoes and scrapbooking materials.

An average of 250 visitors joined the celebrations in Eindhoven. This is a good number according to Milagros Maldonado, chairperson of CLO: "The atmosphere was great and the joy of the people when we said goodbye was the best award. We thank the Municipality of Eindhoven, Blue Collar Hotel, Caroline Meevis and all wonderful volunteers of CLO."

The theme ‘joining female forces’ was brought into practice with this day as it was a successful and enjoyable day with a varied set-up.
