SP gets most votes in Eindhoven, turnout 40.8 percent

In Eindhoven the SP (socialist party) has received the most votes in the Provincial State Elections. The party received 16.7 percent of the votes and that is a little more than four years ago, when did they had 15.1 percent.

In total, 40.8 percent of the Eindhoven population turned out for the polls yesterday. That is less than the national average of 47 percent.

The national trend of the government parties losing share is visible also in Eindhoven with the PvdA (labour party) and the VVD (democrats) being hard hit. With 14.4 percent of the votes, the VVD in Eindhoven is still in third place, but compared with four years ago the party lost significantly, nearly three percent of their share.
As for the PvdA, the damage was even greater: the party is in fifth place in Eindhoven with 11 % of the votes. It suffered a loss of almost six percent.

These are provisional results. The official results will be published next Monday.
