Hockeyclub Oranje-Rood is new name OZ and EMHC

Hockeyclub Oranje-Rood is the new name of the merged hockey clubs Oranje-Zwart and EMHC. Besides a new logo for the new club, the first teams of Oranje Zwart received the Fair Play Cup as well yesterday.

The new name of the club refers to both the ‘old’ clubs, Oranje Zwart and EHMC. The name directs to the orange in orange-black and to the red of the shirts of EMHC.

The new logo is a shield with a hockey player. To the left of the logo is orange, and to the right of it is red. Orange stands as the merger association for performance and top hockey, red must radiate warmth and "gezelligheid" or cosiness.

The unveiling of the new name and the new logo will be celebrated with a bouncy castle and obstacle course for the youngest members of the merged club. For all other members there is a party with DJ Oscar Bigalow.

Fair Play Cup is an initiative of Oranje Zwart to encourage players of the club to play fair hockey. Olympic champion Pieter van den Hoogenband has awarded the prize.

In December the Eindhoven municipality gave the green light for the merger and the construction of a new hockey stadium complex. The new sports complex will have three training fields, an artificial water field and a grandstand for 8,000 spectators.

The complex has a value of nine million euros, paid by the association, the province and the municipality.
If all goes well, the sports complex will be ready in 2016.
