Demolition and new construction in Oude Gracht

Around sixty homes in the Oude Gracht neighbourhood in Woensel will be demolished. They will be replaced by a similar number of houses.

According to the Housing Corporation Woonbedrijf the current duplexes around St. Thomas Church no longer meet the demands of our time. It also sees a reduction in the demand for this type of housing in families who are starting up.

Woonbedrijf has offered the current residents a relocation scheme. In case houses become empty this year, they will be rented out temporarily to keep the neighborhood livable.

The demolition is scheduled for this autumn, and is to be followed shortly by the construction of the new houses. By spring 2016 the houses are planned to be ready.

The rent of the new houses is around 600 Euros.
