700,000 euros for luminescent Van Gogh bike lane

The construction of the Van Gogh bicycle lane in Eindhoven, which is designed by Daan Roosegaarde, is going to cost 700,000 euros. ‘Omroep Brabant’ (Brabant Broadcasting Corporation) reported that, according to the province of Noord-Brabant, the construction of the lane will begin this fall. The budget is part of the overall budget for the construction of the ‘Ruit’ (Diamond) around Eindhoven.

The 600-metre-long bicycle lane, will be made of luminescent stones. Roosegaarde based his design on Vincent van Gogh’s painting ‘Starry Night’.

Thus, the famous painter will be honoured with this luminescent bike lane. Van Gogh lived and worked in the Eindhoven region from 1883 to 1885.
