The trial period with the so-called ‘super cameras’ at Ekkersrijt will be expanded. There has been one camera for about a year at the business premises and two more will be added.
The ‘super camera’ is a Nox-20 camera, which was created by ProDrive, a business located at Ekkersrijt. The camera is not yet on the market, but has been placed on the business premises as a pilot. The camera has a special quality whereby images made at night are very sharp.
This year, the camera has aided considerably in three cargo thefts, one burglary and three counts of failure to stop after a collision. All these have been resolved with the aid of the super camera.
The camera currently is suspended at the intersection 1000-4000 on Ekkersrijt, nearby the KPN Business Centre. The camera can only view the lanes and each vehicle separately.
The aim is to add cameras at the other entranceways to Ekkersrijt so that every car can be monitored on the business premises. This should ensure that criminals could be more easily arrested.
