The Dutch robot soccer team from TU Eindhoven started well at the World Cup in Brazil.
Robots Tu/e not only defeated the team from Tech United Japan 4-0, as well one of the two Chinese teams lost by 3-0.
On the third match against the Portuguese Cambada TechUnited encountered a first goal against their team. However, just before full time Eindhoven scored the equalizer.
On Monday, the Eindhoven team experienced some technical problems with the communication between the robots. As a result, all robots were playing as goalkeepers. After a reset, all robot players stuck to their task.
Eindhoven played with a newly developed robot with four-wheel suspension giving the robot more grip than the opponents’ robots and increasing speed. The TU/e robots are also stronger on uneven and artificial grass.
Tech United is in Brazil for the world title. Last year, in 2013 Eindhoven robots ended in second place. China was the world champion.
