International School competing for architectural prize

The new building of the Eindhoven International School is competing for the title ‘Building Of The Year’. The competition is organised by the Beroepsvereniging Nederlandse Architecten (Dutch Architect Trade Association).

The old monumental Army base, situated on the Oirschotsedijk, was renovated and extended with a new building. According to the Dutch Architect Trade Association, this transformation was successful.

The building on the Oirschotsedijk contains classrooms and study halls, as well as a multifunctional gym building, a media library, a theatre building and a sports hall. It was designed by Diederendirrix Architects Eindhoven.

Other nominated buildings are the Rijksmeuseum in Amsterdan, Culture Centre Rozet in Arnhem and the Museum Quarter in Den Bosch. Voting can be done via the site: www.gebouwvanhetjaar.nl
