Eindhoven region is going to strenghten its ties with Wallonia.

A meeting was held on Strijp S today, bringing together top people from the Eindhoven region with top people of the French-speaking part of Belgium (Wallonia). The purpose of the meeting was to agree upon an intensive cooperation in the areas of Innovation and Technology.

The agreements were essentially made between Wallonia and Netherlands. However, Eindhoven, being a high-tech region, will play an important role in these agreements.
The Dutch Foreign Trade Minister, Lilianne Ploumen, was present at the meeting in order to sign the cooperation agreement.

The Eindhoven region has already been working together with Flanders cities of Belgium, such as Antwerp and Leuven, for many years. Wallonia has not been involved until now although quite a lot of developments are made there in the field of innovation and high-tech. The Wallonian Minister of Economy, Jean-Claude Marcourt, sees a lot of opportunities. Especially in the fields of knowledge, students and researchers exchange.
