Van Gijzel dissatisfied with course of province

Yesterday, mayor Van Gijzel criticized the provincial government of North-Brabant. Administrative powers in South-East Brabant and regional collaborations are being dismantled and the Eindhoven mayor is not amused about that, to say the least.

"We should not tear down what has already been built in this region", Van Gijzel says. He claims that the position of the Brainport region is being ignored by the provincial government. This particular region thrives on close cooperation, in Van Gijzel’s opinion.
Van Gijzel spoke at an administrativie power conference at the Evoluon in Eindhoven. 260 mayors and councilmen were present at the conference, including the mayor of Helmond, Elly Blanksma and the King’s commissioner Wim van de Donk.

The national government of The Netherlands also want to dismantle partnerships for the Eindhoven region, called ‘Samenwerkingsverband Regio Eindhoven’.
