The Plaza Futura in Natlab on the Strijp-S is to lose it’s theatre wing. It is too expensive to continue with the regular theatre performances.
In order to make the business cost-effective, the new multifunctional hall in the Natlab needs to show more films. This is more profitable as well as being beneficial to the hospitality part explains Gieske Bienert from the movie theatre. The multifunctional hall will need to show films on 300 days of the year, with other events to be held on the remaining days. Music, debates, readings and theatre are some of the options. The plaza is currently situated on the Leenderweg but will relocate in September to the Natlab. The rent of four hundred thousand euros is the main reason that the performances are being cut. With an end to the theatre progams there is now no place in Eindhoven for level-floor theatre. Plaza Futura hopes to include these performances in the Park Theatre.
