Empire State Building gets a Philips Lighting LED make-over

NEW YORK – Picture the scene; yesterday evening in New York, the Empire State Building (in collaboration with Clear Channel and 14-time Grammy Award winner, Alicia Keys) premiered its new Philips Color Kinetics LED lighting system with a spectacular light show designed by world-renowned lighting and production designer, Marc Brickman.

Alicia Keys kicked off the Philips light show by flipping the switch live in Clear Channel’s New York City studios, followed by a broadcast of her hit songs “Girl on Fire” and “Empire State of Mind” in spectacular synchronization with the lights. Native New Yorkers and those in the surrounding area with a view of the world’s most famous building, listened to the broadcast on one of four Clear Channel radio stations. Sparking a frenzy on social media sites Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, thousands of New Yorkers filmed the LED lighting show on their phones and uploaded them. I think this is a great way of implementing LED lighting and synchronizing it with popular music and giving it to the masses.
