Less applications for student transportation

EINDHOVEN – This coming school year again, less special needs students will make use of subsidized transportation in Eindhoven. The municipality has received 580 applications so far, 30 of which were denied.

Last year, 665 applications were received and up to 950 applications for the school year 2010-2011. The hardship clause applies to 89 of the 550 allocated applications. This means that even though these students live within a 6-kilometer range from school, transportation will be subsidized. A city’s spokesperson stresses the fact that the number of applications for the coming school year is not final yet, since they will keep receiving new applications over the next few weeks (and during the school year).
