Water, water everywhere

Large parts of Eindhoven are dealing with flooding due to the excessive showers.  Late Saturday night and early Sunday morning the term ‘raining cats and dogs’ would not have been enough to describe just how much rain came pouring down.

Some roads became inaccessible, such as the underpass near Croy. In Meerhoven a tree came down and had to be sawn into manageable chunks by the fire brigade. Many trees have unstable root systems due to the excess rain in the last six months and more, and trees in full leaf become more vulnerable in high winds.

Veldhoven

Veldhoven did not escape the effects of the storm. Rainwater flooded care home Merefelt on Parklaan. The fire brigade had to pump out the water on the ground floor and mop up. Many streets were flooded and had to be closed down for traffic.
