At the old video lab on Strijp S a Chinese pavilion will be established. The Pavilion was given in 2005 as a symbolic gift given by the Chinese city of Nanjing in honor of the 20th anniversary of the sister ties the city has with Eindhoven.
In return Eindhoven gave a Van Gogh Friendship park to Nanjing. This was opened in 2011.
In the pavilion on Strijp S, the culture of China will get a central place. As the pouring of tea is an important part of the culture, and therefore will take an essential position in the Pavilion.
Nanjing itself invested over 1.2 million euros to pay for the project. Eindhoven will contribute about 200,000 euro.
The construction of the pavilion should start early next year.
