Local initiative to help with voting receives a national prize

The Steunwiel project in Eindhoven has been awarded a national prize, the Zilveren Prokkel. The local initiative helps people with intellectual disabilities prepare for the European elections.

People with disabilities or mentally disabled people can have a difficulty with understanding what the elections are about and who they can vote for. Steunwiel volunteers help them with this. The participating youngsters also bring the problem to the attention of the House of Representatives in The Hague.

The Zilveren Prokkel was created by the Prokkel foundation, an organisation that brings people with disabilities into contact with others.
