Minister van Engelshoven: Summa is an example for the MBO

The Summa College on the Brainport Industries Campus is an example for all ROC’s (Regional Training Centres) in the Netherlands. This is also the opinion of Minister van Engelshoven of Education.

The Department financially injects the MBO’s (Senior Secondary Vocational Education), to improve the quality of their education. In order to confirm that, the Minister came to Eindhoven on Monday.

Because the way Summa is operating here, that’s the way more MBO’s should handle it, she finds. Future-oriented education: in the field, among and with companies. That way, students are getting in touch with potential future employers at an early stage. Instructive and useful for all parties involved, is the idea.

Educational institutions in other parts of the country can do the same, according to the Minister. They can adapt to their specific regional situation and in collaboration with partners such as businesses, municipalities and other educational institutions.
