How to dispose of your old Xmas tree

Christmas is over. But what to do with your old tree?

Next Saturday, 12 January, residents in Eindhoven can get rid of their trees at 32 sites all over the city. These sites will be open between 10:00 and 15:00. Residents are urged not to place their trees in the underground containers.

In Geldrop-Mierlo, there are 17 places where the old Christmas trees can be brought. These must be handed in on Tuesday, 8 January, between 18:00 and 19:00. See the list of locations here.

When handed in, the trees must be free of decorations and lights. They must also be placed in a plastic bag or bucket. If you are not able to bring your tree to one of these sites, you can always take it to one of the recycling centres in Eindhoven or Geldrop.

The discarded trees are processed into wood chips. These chips are then used in biomass plants where green energy is produced.
