Eindhoven in race for European City of the Year

Eindhoven in the race for the title of ‘European City of the Year’. Reaching the finals together with the Danish capital Copenhagen and the French Montpellier.

The title is a prestigious award for cities that excel in a particular field. Eindhoven is chosen for its green character. The city is also promoting the creation of more parks and gardens, thereby helping with the water management, prevent flooding and combat climate change. Eindhoven is furthermore praised for its innovative nature and the use of technology to make the city more attractive.

The European City of the Year award was created by the Academy of Urbanism, a British think-tank. The award was last won by Rotterdam in 2014 and San Sabastian in 2015. The winner this year will be announced in London on 16 November.
