The inhabitants and village council of Acht are unhappy about how the rat infestation is being handled by the municipality of Eindhoven. In the previous week alone the council was alerted of 120 reported cases of rat sightings.
In October of 2015 the municipality started with eradicating the rats. According to the council, the inhabitants were pleased with this and the results, but since a few weeks the number of rats have increased. "Locals say the rats are walking over fences and in gardens and even live in the walls of houses," Remco van Dooren, chairman of village council Acht, says. "That’s far from a comfortable and hygienic place to live in."
The council also complains about the inactive role of the municipality and the Kennis and Adviescentrum (KAD). These organisations don’t make visits anymore to talk about these problems face to face. This was agreed on by all parties, according to Van Dooren.
Today, the municipality has reacted to these complaints and promised to make sure the KAD is going to do its job in dealing with the rat problems.
