Architecture Faculty students TU/e demonstration against cuts

It has been a while since students have demonstrated, but yesterday students of the TU/e Architecture Faculty saw the need to demonstrate to highlight their concerns. The reason being the enormous cuts proposed amounting to the amount of two million euros for their faculty, should the plan go forward.

The students want to highlight the need for a change in the allocation criteria which determines how much funding each faculty gets. If it up to the Executive Board of the TU/e the emphasis will shift to research rather than education, says student Thijs de Goede. This change would negatively impact the Faculty of Architecture more as relative little research is done in that department.

Yesterday afternoon, as part of their demonstration against the change in allocation of funds, the students wrapped the art work on the field in front of the Vertigo building in architectural drawings. And students were around to collect signatures for their petition against the proposed plan of the Executive Board of the University.
