It seems that school Strabrecht College in Geldrop-Mierlo will be housed in a new building. This, according to ED (Eindhoven’s daily newspaper).

Earlier plans, which were to partly tear down the existing building and to renovate, seemed rather expensive. The costs for a complete renovation amount to 4.8 million euros. According to further research, originated by the municipality, a complete new building, would amount to 19 million euros; however, in the long run, it would be cheaper.

The Strabrecht College new building in Geldrop, will be smaller than the existing building, due to the declining number of students.

The Geldrop-Mierlo municipality, discussed the new building plans, yesterday evening. Furthermore, discussions were held about building plans for the Dommeldal primary school and the Beneden Beekloop school.

Although every school discussed, has its own school board, they will, before long, fall under the same category. This will not, however, result in an intensive cooperation among the schools. Each school will be free to decide how to go about its new building. Eventually, the schools will share their technical areas, since that will help in reducing costs.

During the Geldrop-Mierlo council meeting, next month, a decision will be taken, whether the new buildings for the three schools may proceed.
