Municipality presents Innovation Award bid book

Eleven Brainport Schools put their signature

The Eindhoven municipality, presented the bid book for the European Capital of Innovation Award, to the panel of judges, yesterday. Eindhoven is competing for the award, together with eight additional European cities.

The Eindhoven’s bid book topic is "light"; its title is ‘Enlightening tomorrow’s society’. It describes Eindhoven as city of light, starting with Philips and the light bulb. Later on, hit hard due to the factories’ move from the centre of Eindhoven. Eventually, experiencing a "rebirth"- resurrection as a result of a new manufacturing industry, such as Brainport and the High Tech industry, now situated in Eindhoven.

The European Capital of Innovation Award, is a prize given by the European Commission to stimulate the capacity for innovation in European cities. The prize amounts to 950,000 Euros. The winner will be made public on Friday, 8 April, 2016.
