Hermes to introduce electric buses

Starting at the end of 2016, Hermes will operate 40 electric buses in Eindhoven.

The company made the pledge as part of a new contract it won to provide buses in the city for the next decade. Hermes was the only company to enter the tender.

Changes taking effect from the start of the new year will include 4 extra buses per hour to the airport (in addition to the current 10) and new routes between the High Tech Campus, ASML, and the airport.

Using electric buses will make Eindhoven the first city in the Netherlands to use "zero-emission" vehicles on a large scale.
