Autistic youth opens PUUR restaurant

PUUR restaurant in the healthcare facility of Futuris in Strijp-s, opens today, serving breakfast and lunch. Young people with autisum work at the restaurant in Strijp S.

"Put them (autistic youth) to work and coach them", is what Sander van de Moosdijk aims to do at PUUR. Van de Moosdijk is a young entrepreneur at Futuris, a care organisation to help the autistic youth by giving them meaningful daily activities and offering them care and work.

The care organisation had been working on the project for some time, but changed its course a while back. The autistic youth were then supported only by health care people without experience in the hospitality industry, thus giving way to young entrepreneur Van de Moosdijk, equipped with industry ‘know-how’.

Another example of a company that is run by young people with autism, is Soul Kitchen also at Strijp S. With a similar approach, this restaurant is led by a young entrepreneur and for the rest by young individuals with autism. From a Futuris job coach they learn social skills and the tricks of the trade they learn from the entrepreneur himself.

PUUR is focused on organic and fair trade products and produce. The guests may get a bite to eat, and enjoy the shop within the premises.

The breakfast and lunch restaurant is open daily from Monday to Friday from 8:00hrs to 17:00hrs, the shop is open until 18:00hrs.
