Anti-aggression lighting tested on Stratumseind

Today at Stratumseind lighting will be tested which should reduce aggression in the Eindhoven clubbing street.

By clever use of lighting violence should be contained. Over the next few years experiments take place with coloured light, ferocity, and light patterns. The expectation is that emotions will be affected, self-awareness will be increased or the attention of aggressive visitors will be shifted.

With the lighting project TU/e and Philips think that the number of riots and incidents will be reduced considerably.

Lighting is one of the possibilities for decrease. Stratumseind will be developed into a ‘living lab’ for the coming years. Using also smell and measuring equipment should influence the behaviour of the audience attending the bars and cafes in the street.

Every year there are more than eight hundred incidents on Stratumseind.
