Sunday morning, a fire started at a gas station on the Eerste Lieven de Keylaan in Woensel. The fire rapidly spread to a neighbouring motorcycle clothing store located on the ground floor of an apartment building.
About twenty Polish residents of the apartment building were evacuated, as well as a few more residents living in the vicinity.
Both the gas station and the motorcycle clothing store burned down entirely. A lot of smoke was visible in the entire neighbourhood, mainly around Catharina hospital, but did not cause a risk for the population.
The apartment building is in danger of collapsing. Therefore, its demolition was started immediately.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
