The national organization Milieudefensie (Friends of the Earth Netherlands) opened a branch in Eindhoven this week.
The branch originated in an existing team that has been active in the city and that focusses on air and climate improvement. These will stay the main themes, together with special attention given to shale gas and bees.
Milieudefensie has 65 branches nationwide. It joined IUCN (the International Union for the Conservation of Nature) in November 2011. The Union is the largest global environmental organization and seeks to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.
