After a long chase, police arrrested a suspected drug dealer last night. The man and a policewoman were injured during the arrest.
Undercover police officers saw the man allegedly selling drugs to known drug users at the central railway station. When the police wanted to search the man, he hurried off on a bycicle.
A member of the motor police went after him. The suspect rode into the Brouwersstraat and then disappeared into a cyclist’s tunnel. The police officer crashed at the tunnel.
Other officers saw the man cycling on the Wal and tried to stop him. But the man tore himself loose. A policewoman fell down to the ground and was injured on her back and arm.
The chase continued with a police car. The suspect was hit by the car at the Paradijslaan and fell to the ground himself. He was injured on his leg and has been treated at the hospital. After that, he was apprehended by the police.
The suspect had bags of weed and hashish in his possession and the bicycle he was riding, turned out to be a stolen one.
