Capital D, the Design Corporation of the Brainport area has a new director: Martijn Paulen.
Paulen comes from the TiasNimbas Business School in Tilburg. There he held the position of director of Innovation and Learning Strategies. He also worked as an independent adviser.Paulen will fulfill, amongst other things, the position of director of the Dutch Design Week.It became clear last week that Capital D had been rescued from financial disaster. A series of measures and a guarantee from the council has ensured financial certainty and that the shortfalls of recent years will be eliminated.At the end of last year it became apparent that Capital D was in a financial mess. Mismanagement had led to the design organization to a deficit of more than one million euros. The two old directors have in the meantime left the company.Financial security means that the Dutch Design Week has been saved, along with the Dutch Design Awards. Both events attract thousands of visitors annually, both from home and overseas.
