EINDHOVEN – Mayor Rob van Gijzel voiced his concerns on Monday about the future of the regional economy. He did this during the New Year reception.
Van Gijzel said he was concerned about ‘overheating’, by that he meant the question for production being greater than the capacity available.Van Gijzel is concerned that the Eindhoven region will have a shortage of tens of thousands of workers. According to the Mayor, more people need to be trained to carry out technical occupations. Production processes also need to be automated further. The current education system is an obstacle according to Van Gijzel. In addition, the current housing market will be an obstruction to attracting qualified technical personnel to Brabant. Van Gijzel will discuss these issues this month with Henk Kamp, minister of economic affairs.Source: http://www.dichtbij.nl/eindhoven/zakelijk/artikel/2582284/van-gijzel-vreest-tekort-aan-goed-personeel-video.aspx
