ASTEN – Maria, that is the name of the bell made by foundry Royal Eijsbouts B.V. in Asten and which was packed for a trip to the Notre Dame in Paris on Thursday.
The foundry acquired earlier this year the assignment for one of the nine new bells for the French cathedral. The bell weighs 6,500 kg. and is cast in a temperature of 1,100 degrees from 850 so-called rolls of bronze.
