EINDHOVEN – From 10 to 17 November, the city center of Eindhoven turns into a forum of interventions, installations, performances and events based on the phenomena of artificial light.
The theme is Façades & FacesEindhoven’s modern, business and post-industrial environment is shown with many different façades and faces. The wide variety of building fronts, architectural styles and – sometimes empty – locations will once again provide a wealth of opportunities for the participating artists to integrate their creativity into the looks of the city. Throughout the city, you will find fantastic light installations. A special route is set up to visit the dozens of art pieces. Guided tours are also organized for individuals and groups. The guide will give you additional and elaborate information about the object, the artist and the city itself. For the first time this year, in addition to the downtown route, a collection of light art will be presented on Strijp-S, under the name GLOW-S. The history of the former Philips physics laboratory, in combination with established companies in the area, must become an international meeting place and an experimental spot where innovative light development is presented.
‘Glow for kids’ Last year, we had the handmade lampshades on the ‘Markt’. This year, there is a ‘GLOW for Kids’ art project. Two thousand jolly light flowers will be ‘planted’ by children in the ‘Karel Vermeerenplantsoen’ behind the Vestdijk. Some bars and restaurants have joined the initiative ‘GLOW Food & Drinks’ and will serve you a special GLOW meal, GLOW drink or even a full menu at a friendly price. You can recognize the participants of ‘GLOW Food & Drinks’ by a GLOW beach flag. For more info: http://www.gloweindhoven.nl/website/glow/glow.php?action=home&gshow=order&eventId=7&Curr=1&lId=2
