Temporary resident of Kasteel Geldrop (castle) is not a rightful heir, the deceit was no more than an art project

GELDROP – Artist Matthijs Bosman lied. Last month he claimed that he had inherited the right to live in ‘Kasteel Geldrop’ temporarily. He now confesses that this is untrue. His lie was merely an art project to breath life into the estate.

Bosman made up the story for an art project from ‘Erfgoed Brabant’ (cultural heritage) and the province. The local from Den Bosch has been living in the estate for the past month. He will leave on Tuesday.”My intention with this project was to revive interest in the estate through my artwork. I made sketches day and night about the kind of activities I could do to bring the estate back to life”, according to Bosman. The idea he chose was to move into the building with his family, under the banner ‘More than present’. He reasoned that the estate would only regain a soul if it was inhabited and if a myth and a story were created. “I assume that people will see the power of this piece of art and will understand why I was economical with the truth. I can look back on a successful art project because we really did breathe life back into the estate come back to life,” said Bosman. Source: Omroep  Brabant
