Dutch Design Week: largest design event in Netherlands

EINDHOVEN – From October 20 through October 28, the eleventh edition of Dutch Design Week takes place in Eindhoven. DDW presents unparalleled ideas, individualistic works and insightful solutions devised by innovative designers.

More than 1,800 designers display their work ranging from industrial design, spatial design, and graphic design to textiles, sustainable design and design management & trends. The participants include established bureaus, high-profile designers, talented newcomers, and recently graduated designers. There are 85 different locations housing more than 300 events. Besides exhibitions, there are numerous lectures, workshops, fashion shows and seminars. Unless stated otherwise, admission to the exhibitions is free of charge. Please note that visitors need to register in advance for most seminars, workshops and lectures.In 1998, evolved from De Dag van het Ontwerp (Day of the Design), DDW has meanwhile grown into the largest design event in the Netherlands and enjoys international recognition. Also the upcoming jubilee edition ensures a balanced mix of up-and-coming talent, established designers, renowned bureaus, the manufacturing industry and various knowledge institutes. For nine days, numerous exhibitions and openings, seminars and workshops, product launches and presentations transform Eindhoven into design capital of Europe.Every year new aspects are added like this year the ‘Fashion Route’ is included in the already existing ‘Window Route’. More than 100 shops in the city centre are offering space in their windows to designers.
