2000 Pigs die in fire Deurne

Wednesday, 04 July 2012

DEURNE – On Wednesday morning circa 2000 pigs were killed in a large fire in a pigsty at the Lupinenweg in Deurne.

The farmer came around 0.55 hours to the stable after hearing the (presumably) burglar alarm. The pigsty was already ablaze. In the stable were at least 450-500 sows and 1500 piglets. The help came too late for all animals. Almost certainly, no asbestos was released, but the fire brigade was still investigating on Wednesday morning to exclude this completely. The cause of the dramatic fire is still unknown.Eindhoven Dichtbij
