PSV back in Eindhoven to prepare for Europa League

PSV is back in Eindhoven after a 10 day training camp in Verbier, Switzerland. New signings Lozano, Luckassen and Van Ginkel have already joined the team, while Jetro Willems left off to Frankfurt to play for Eintracht. The selection are preparing for saturday’s FANday and thursday’s Europa League match against NK Osijek, both taking place at the Philips Stadium.

 

Friendly matches against Monaco and Grasshopper

PSV played three matches during their trainingcamp. First they beat FC Sion with 0-1, then they drew against Monaco with 0-0, and losing the last game against Grasshopper with 3-1. Newcomer Derrick Luckassen and Marco Van Ginkel got playing time, next to 11 talents from the PSV Youth Academy, who are now officially part of the A-selection. Jetro Willems off to Eintracht Frankfurt

After years of speculation, Jetro Willems now finally made his move abroad. After Willems passed his medical test, a day of silence followed, during which Eintracht and PSV had to overcome certain difficulties. Today the news came that the now 23-year-old officialy signed a 4-year contract in Frankfurt. Willems joined PSV’s basic eleven when he was 17, playing 144 matches ever since, scoring 11 goals and giving numerous assists. PSV receives €7.000.000,- for the left back who brought 1 national cup, 2 national titles and 2 Johan Cruyff cups in Eindhoven. Whether TM Marcel Brands will sign a new defender to complete the selection, or leave the filling of the gap up to the current selection, is yet unknown.

Official presentation new players

Willy van der Kuylen, Mister PSV, officially handed Hirving Lozano, Derrick Luckassen and Marco Van Ginkel their T-shirts, this friday. The press came from all over the world and therefor PSV chose do do the presentation at the Philips Stadium instead of at the usual Trainingcomplex De Herdgang. Luckassen takes over number 3 from Mexican strongholder Héctor Moreno, who left to AS Roma. Lozano hoped to get number 8, the number taken by Jorrit Hendrix, but is happy to wear number 11 this season. Marco Van Ginkel swaps his number 28 for number 10.

FANday this Saturday

Like every year, PSV has its own FANday which takes place in and around the Philips Stadium. The program starts at 13:00h, the stadium opens at 14:30h and the new selection will be presented at 15:00h, after which there is time to get your shirts or posters signed by your favorite players from 15:30h on. The FAN day ends at 17:00h.

Europa League match against NK Osijek on Thursday

Last week Thursday it came clear that PSV’s Europa League opponent of next week will come from Croatia. It will be the first official match for Eindhoven’s best and the coming week will be all about preparing for this match, taking place at the Philips Stadium at 19:00h.
