Battery company LeydenJar*, with a factory in Eindhoven, is going to collaborate with the large Chinese company Highpower. The collaboration will enable the large-scale development of smart batteries with fifty per cent more capacity.
The two companies are joining forces to develop a super battery. The large Chinese battery manufacturer Highpower Technology has been active in this field for more than twenty years. The collaboration will enable smart devices with AI technology to be better powered in the near future. It can also be rolled out on a large scale, writes LeydenJar.
Powerful batteries
The rapid development of AI requires increasingly powerful and energy-efficient devices. Smart and powerful batteries can help with this. This concerns industrial applications, but also consumer electronics such as smartphones and laptops. From 2027 onwards, the first batteries from Highpower and LeydenJar could be delivered to a large American tech company.
LeydenJar is a rapidly growing company. It employs around eighty people, most of whom are based in Eindhoven. Its head office is located in Leiden. According to De Volkskrant newspaper, Highpower Technology employs around seven thousand people.
*LeydenJar Technologies started as a start-up in 2016 focused on the development and use of radical silicon anodes, which enhance batteries. This innovation leads to “high energy density, lightning-fast charging, and a low environmental footprint”. (Source: leyden-jar.com)
