There was at least 2000 kilos less garbage on streets due to the cancellation of the carnival (Lampegat) parade on Saturday.

Ergon, the company responsible for cleaning reports that. Jos Walravens of Ergon notices this especially in the deployment of people. “It is visible that there hasn’t been a parade this year as far as deploying cleaners is concerned. Other years we spend more than three hours with 25 people cleaning up all the mess of the parade”.

No alternative date
The Lampegat parade is not going to be rescheduled. “This is just not feasible for us as an organisation,” says Huub Tos, chairman of the Federation of Eindhoven Carnival. “Fortunately, the alternative program we’ve offered on Saturday in the Effenaar is well attended.”

The parade was cancelled for safety reasons. The strong wind was the main reason.
