Airport App predicts flight paths

From now on, Eindhoven Airport’s BurenApp (Neighbours App) will be able to predict which aircraft will fly over when. Residents will then be able to see a few hours in advance when there is a lot of air traffic above their home.

The BurenApp has been around for a long time. Prediction is the app’s new function. Airport critic, Seyno Sluyterman, is somewhat sceptical about the app. He attaches much more importance to the fact that the amount of noise produced by the aircraft should also be measured. “If we can see that and look back on it after a month, it will help”.

The app works based on KNMI weather forecasts. Pilots determine the direction in which they take-off based on the wind.
