New city centre paving will contain ‘pieces of Eindhoven’

New paving stones to be laid in the city centre starting in 2020 will contain ‘pieces of Eindhoven’.

Atelier NL is working developing an ‘Eindhoven stone’. A trial version of the paving stone itself has already been designed.

Atelier is now working on collecting pieces of land to make up the final stone. Local residents can also hand in pieces of sand or soil from their favourite parts of the city to Atelier.

“We want to show the different colours and types of soil in Eindhoven. Every piece of land has its own story. We want to include this in the new stone”, said Atelier’s Nadine Sterk.
