Field of honour in Mierlo cleaned in time for commemoration

According to the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo, the graffiti on the British Field of Honour in Mierlo has almost been removed. Today’s memorial ceremony can, therefore, continue as planned.

Last Thursday, miscreants defaced the tombstones of the British field of Honour. They spray-painted swastikas and other images on them. In connection with the defacing of these war graves, police arrested a 36-year-old man over the weekend.

The maintenance team of the Commonwealth War Graves’ Commission has been busy removing the graffiti. The cemetery is expected to be completely clean again by the end of the day. Therefore the planned ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Eindhoven can continue today.
