An Eindhoven resident is selling his house in the Stratum area for thirty bitcoins.

Bitcoin enthusiast Tim Hanekamp, 40, is also accepting bids from €250,000 but thinks the cryptocurrency is much safer and easier.

“With the Rabobank, for example, you have to wait three business days before the money is in your ING account, for example”, says Hanekamp. “With bitcoins this can be done within an hour. Then I can convert it to euros in a few seconds.”

Once the house is sold, Hanekamp plans to travel in his camper van.

Bitcoin is a digital currency exchanged directly between users without the need for an intermediary. Thirty bitcoins are currently equivalent to just over €300,000.
