Ever wanted to watch a live medical operation? Soon, this will be possible at Catherina Hospital in Eindhoven during Dutch Technology Week.
On Wednesday 22nd May, a woman will undergo an operation for cervical cancer. People who are interested can watch the operation via an online live stream.
The operation will be performed using a new medical robot that surgeons have worked with since March this year. It is known as the Da Vinci-Xi. It is primarily used during complex cancer operations such as prostate, gynaecological, bladder, kidney and pancreatic cancers. Such operations can be performed with greater precision with the Da Vinci-Xi.
Various regional newspapers will provide a live stream link to the operation via their websites. The broadcast will begin at 11 o’clock in the morning. Viewers can even submit questions to a gynaecologist who will be in the operating room. Questions can be submitted via WhatsApp and Facebook.
The live stream is part of Dutch Technology Week, which will take place from 20th to 25th May. Around 50 events take place, all centred around the theme of technology.
