Carnaval float instead of expensive car for Demi’s graduation party

Many people must have been surprised on Thursday evening when, out of the blue, a Carnaval float drove through Sint Trudoplein in Eindhoven. No, it was not Carnaval, but Demi Brouwers wanted to arrive in style at her graduation party at the Philips Stadium.

Most students arrived in fancy cars. A Bentley, various vintage cars, and a BMW i8 were just a few of the vehicles parked there on Thursday evening before the entire procession left for the party at the Philips Stadium. But still, Demi was the one with the most striking car … and the noisiest.

But why did she not just go in a normal car? “We live in a Carnaval society, and everyone comes in a fancy car. So, why not? Once a carnavalist, always a carnavalist,” she says.

Demi’s friend owns the vehicle. They arranged the required permits for travelling on the road that evening.

Of course, Demi came to the gala in a dress, because a Carnaval outfit would not have entirely matched the theme. “That would be going a little too far,” she says, laughing.
