Stratumseind no longer part of ‘Verlaatjes’

Bars and restaurants on Stratumseind will no longer be participating in the Verlaatjes pilot project. There is too much resistance from the residents in the area.

In this pilot project, these establishments were to be able to keep their doors open until the early hours of the morning. This has been tried, which success, in the past on the Markt, Dommelstraat, and Stationsplein. Bars there are allowed to remain open for longer, ten times a year.

The Stratumseind pilot would have been expanded to other parts of the centre, as well as Strijp S. However, establishments in Stratumseind will not be granted this privilege. No consensus could be reached between the business owners and the residents.

They have, however, jointly come up with an alternative plan. The bars, cafés, and restaurants are allowed to remain open at certain times during the year. This plan is currently under advisement.
