Eindhoven’s Mayor, John Jorritsma, is going to lead this year’s Dutch mission to the annual arts and technology festival, South by South West (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.

He will head up the mission on behalf of the company, Creative Holland. It is the third time that the Dutch creative industry, under the partnership, ‘New Dutch Wave’, will attend this American festival. SXSW has been designated by the Dutch Government as a strategic trade show. It is visited by more than 350 Dutch companies, creative minds, and artists every year. They go there looking for trends, inspiration, and to try and generate business.

‘Sharing of knowledge and talent’

With the visit, Jorritsma will build on the earlier contacts between the two cities. “From conversations with both Mayor Steve Adler of the city of Austin, as well as with the management of SXSW, it appears that there is mutual interest”, he says.

“We see many opportunities when it comes to sharing knowledge and talent. My goal during my visit to SXSW is to strengthen the Netherlands’ position as a breeding ground for creativity and innovation. I also want to build a sustainable relationship with SXSW and the city of Austin in the field of music, culture, and design. ”

SXSW is to be held in Austin (Texas) from Friday, 8 March until Sunday, 17 March 2019.
