Izis, a four-year-old flower girl from Eindhoven, has been named ‘Budding Ambassador’ by Lions Club Nederland.

Izis and her mother, Laurie Sieben, collect flowers from Albert Heijn that can no longer be sold and arrange them into fresh bouquets. They then deliver these to seniors in their neighbourhood, Schutterbosch. ‘I want to make a thousand more,’ says Izis.

It is because of this initiative that Anita Bijvoet, head of Lions Club Nederland, appointed Izis as their ‘Budding Ambassador’. Usually, it is young people between the ages of 15 and 18 who receive the ambassadorship. But on Thursday, four-year-old Izis received it.

Lions Club Nederland is an organisation that encourages people to work together on a volunteer basis to provide assistance in their local communities. Their motto is ‘We serve’. Their Young Ambassador programme aims to encourage and reward young people, especially those who do not usually receive recognition, for their contribution to local society.
