The Vrijwillige Hulpdienst in Eindhoven exists for exactly 50 years.

The jubilee year is kicked off by mayor Jorritsma during a drink with the volunteers. On January 22, 1969, the Vrijwillige Hulpdienst Eindhoven was created.

Some Eindhoven residents needed practical help such as with shopping or gardening. The volunteers soon discovered that people they helped were often lonely. Later on, tailor-made projects were started up and since 2017 the campaign name ‘Maatje040’ (buddy040) has also been added.

The organization now consists of more than 530 volunteers, who are supported by an expert team of coordinators and internal volunteers.
